AIL Division 2B, Round 13 — Malone 42–15 Skerries RFC

Skerries suffered a heavy defeat, losing 42-15 to Malone in Belfast. Despite sitting ahead of their hosts in league standings entering the contest, the visitors struggled to maintain rhythm throughout. Skerries lost prop Tomas O'Donovan in the warm-up and then front-rower Trevor Scuffil and prolific goal-kicker Ronan Mulcahy inside the opening ten minutes. The club was already managing injuries to their captain and several key attacking players.

Malone dominated early, scoring four tries in the first half. Michael Melville opened the scoring, followed by Sam Green's lineout maul try. Davy McMaster and Mark McGlynn extended the lead to 32-3 by halftime. Skerries responded with two tries: Dara Twomey in the 58th minute and Brían Walsh in the 61st minute, with conversions narrowing the gap to 32-15. However, Malone finished stronger, adding further tries from Green and Dave Greatorex.

Skerries face a crucial home fixture against Sligo next Saturday with their divisional survival at stake.
