The IRFU have released Return to Rugby guidelines, for the graduated reopening of rugby clubs & return to rugby activities and announced: “A 4-stage roadmap, with us currently in stage 1: SAFETY PLANNING. The IRFU will offer more detail on rugby matters in due course, but for now we ask clubs to focus on safety & put in place soonest:
- Appoint a COVID-19 Club Safety Officer
- Appoint a COVID-19 Club Compliance Officer (one per rugby team across the club)
- Avail of Training & Education Support
- Complete a COVID-19 Health & Safety Plan (including Risk Assessment)
To the question of when can we get out onto a rugby pitch? This must be done in line with government directives. The IRFU fully support this & will share updates with our community as soon as appropriate.”
Skerries RFC are delighted to announce that Mark Harrington, our Chair of rugby, former club senior head coach & club member, has agreed to take on the role of COVID-19 Club Safety Officer. We are extremely fortunate to have Mark’s vast experience & expertise. Mark is Head of Technical Services with World Rugby and has been involved in World Rugby’s COVID-19 response to the pandemic outbreak.
Our Club Safety Plan will manage detailed measures required across our club, to minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission. This is an extensive exercise and includes guidelines for players, coaches, parents/guardians, club committee, and members & visitors.
Our Club’s primary concern is the Health & Safety of all individuals, we will be guided by the IRFU & Government guidelines, so please bear with us throughout this process.
We will issue communications updates as available, but for now our Club & pitches remain closed. We ask everyone to respect this until further notice.
