Update 09/02/19:
The Shield is on it’s way back to Skerries. A great win for the team [26-33] and a special thanks to all the travelling support. Huge thanks to Dunbar RFC for the warm welcome as always and great to hear from Peter Brown, former Scottish International, speaking at the post match dinner about this unique rugby fixture which is held in high esteem by the Scottish Rugby Union.
Another year of Friendship cemented, here’s to 2020 Dunbar RFC, we will see you in Skerries!
———————
The Internationally renowned Dunbar versus Skerries fixture takes place on Friday 8th Feb. 2019 in Dunbar, Kick off 2pm. This is the 67th fixture between the two clubs, still honoured as being the longest continuous Club fixture between Irish & Scottish Clubs, a record both clubs are very proud of.
A large travelling party has battled through the high winds to get to Scotland yesterday & this morning, to be in time for the game this afternoon. The game will be followed by the post match dinner at 7pm in Hallhill, the home of Dunbar Rugby.
Thanks go to Nicky Mc Donough for putting significant effort into organising the extensive weekend logistics.
Skerries RFC wish everyone a safe & memorable weekend, whether it be catching up with old friends, making new ones, or those on their first trip starting new friendships.
Yours in sport.
